She may have been the seventh finalist eliminated, but Kellie Pickler will be the first former American Idol fifth season finalist to make an appearance on the reality competition series' sixth installment.  The 20-year-old North Carolina native is scheduled to perform her new single "I Wonder" during Idol 6's live results show on Thursday, March 1 at 8PM ET on FOX.

Pickler's debut album "Small Town Girl" was released last Halloween after she signed a recording contract with BNA Records, a country label owned by RCA Records and Sony BMG Music Entertainment.  "Small Town Girl" was certified gold in mid-January for selling more than 500,000 copies as it was fueled by the album's debut single, "Red High Heels."

"I Wonder" is the second single from "Small Town Girl" and has been receiving radio play since early February.  A video for "I Wonder" should debut sometime in the coming weeks, and Pickler discussed the song following a performance of it on the January 18 broadcast of The View.

"My relationship with my mom is nonexistent," said Pickler, explaining the inspiration behind "I Wonder," which she co-wrote.  "She left when I was a little girl, so ["I Wonder"] consists of different questions I've had for her over the last 20 years."

A week after the release of her debut album, 20th Century Fox and 19 Entertainment signed Pickler to a sitcom development deal that would have Pickler playing "a naive small-town Southern girl -- a character based on herself -- who discovers that her biological father is the state's well-respected governor."

Unfortunately for Pickler her real-life father, Clyde Raymond Pickler Jr., was arrested on February 7 for allegedly assaulting a female companion with a steak knife.  It's not the first time Clyde Raymond Pickler Jr. has had problems with the law, as he was released from a Florida jail in May 2006 after serving a sentence for stabbing his neighbor in 2003.

Pickler is scheduled to perform as an opening act on Brad Paisley's "Bonfires & Amplifiers" concert tour beginning in late April and ending in August. The tour is booked in 37 cities in the US including one stop in Canada.
