Underwood is dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, officially ending rumors that he was linked to former Newlyweds star Jessica Simpson.  Romo confirmed his relationship with Underwood during a recent interview with The Journal Gazette/Times Courier sports editor Brian Nielsen, according to In Touch Weekly.  The Charleston, IL newspaper is located in the same town as Eastern Illinois University, where Romo attended college.

"After I asked (Romo) all my usual football questions, I said, 'My wife really wants to know if the Jessica Simpson dating rumors are true,'" Nielsen told In Touch.  "He laughed and replied, 'No.  Tell her I'm dating Carrie Underwood.'"

Underwood, 23, and Romo, 26, were seen hugging and laughing on the field at Texas Stadium on Christmas Day before the Cowboys' game against the Philadelphia Eagles.  As Underwood watched the Eagles beat the Cowboys 23-7, NBC Sports commentators Al Michaels and John Madden discussed if she was too big a distraction for Romo during the game.  The topic was also discussed by NFL analysts on Tuesday night's Sportscenter on ESPN.

Romo was a three-time Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year at Eastern Illinois.  After going unselected in the 2003 NFL Draft, Romo signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.  Following three seasons as a backup, Romo became the Cowboys starting quarterback during the team's October 23 game and has since posted a 6-3 record, earning him a spot as one of the NFC's Pro Bowl quarterbacks.
