Honey Boo Boo has been asked by PETA to change the name of her beloved pet chicken, Nugget -- so the name Patty apparently wouldn't be a more acceptable alternative.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has requested that seven-year-old Alana Thompson, the star of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, should come up with a different name for Nugget "in order to honor her as your friend and protect other chickens just like her," E! News reported

"As I'm sure you are learning from your chicken, chickens are smart, interesting animals with personalities of their own," PETA wrote in a letter to Thompson.

The animal rights organization reportedly suggested Thompson could call her chicken "Not a Nugget" instead.

According to E! News, PETA wanted the young beauty queen to inspire her fans to treat chickens nicely rather than eat them after pointing out many positive attributes of chickens, such as how they know basic math skills and remember things.

The organization reportedly informed Thompson that she could eat "yummy vegan-chicken nuggets" which wouldn't require animals to die and also sent her a t-shirt with a chicken on it saying, "I am not a nugget" to wear.

Thompson's mother June Shannon announced her family had gotten a new chicken named Nugget on Facebook last week, linking a picture of Honey Boo Boo holding the bird and writing, "her and nugget have became very attached this weekend."

Thompson wouldn't allow her pet chicken to sleep outside, so the bird has been sleeping in a cage inside the house, E! News reported.
