Former The Amazing Race team Bethany Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks are expecting a baby!

Hamilton, who lost her left arm in a shark attack in 2003, made the announcement Monday in a video with Dirks she posted on her Facebook page.

"So, we have a little surprise for you -- baby on board!" yelled Hamilton, who finished the Race's 25th season with Dirks in third place.

"She's pregnant," Dirks revealed. "Yes!"

"In baby terms, I'm 22 weeks, which is about halfway there," Hamilton said. "It's been a pretty crazy last four months -- finding out that we're going to be parents and life is going to be changing. We're kind of just starting to prep for bringing a new little being into the world, and it's all really exciting."

On whether they've picked out a name yet, Hamilton admitted they are "prowling" but plan to keep their thoughts on the subject a secret until the baby is born.

"We found out it's a boy," Dirks noted. "So we're looking for boy names."

Hamilton has apparently not taken a break from her passion although she's got a bun in the oven.

"I've been surfing throughout my whole pregnancy," she said. "I plan to surf as long as I can. Once the belly's pretty big maybe [I'll] just mellow out and spend more time swimming and just enjoying the ocean and doing other activities."

Hamilton admitted in the video holding and changing "a squirming baby" might be "really challenging" with one arm, but she'll "adjust and adapt to different things" just like she does in her everyday life.

"I'll just have to find my own way to take care of the baby," Hamilton explained. "And of course Adam will help... I'll figure it out and be creative."

Hamilton has been filming a new documentary-style movie called Surfs Like a Girl, but the project has been put on hold for the time being.

"For now, I'm just excited to be a mom and take on this adventure first, and after that, get back to it," she revealed.

The couple's first child is due in early June, and Dirks said he can't wait to be a father.

"I think it's a huge thing -- taking the father role on, especially the early days of life. We're going to have to find a balance... As we start traveling more and getting into the surfs, I know I'm going to be there to support my wife and support our family and do what I can," Dirks explained.

"I'll change diapers on the beach while Bethany is out there surfing some gnarly wave -- I'm all for that. I'm just really stoked to be a dad."
