Just because Elton John has denied rumblings that he's a good choice to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol's judging panel doesn't mean people have stopped bantering the idea around.
Cowell inked a deal with Fox in January that will end his American Idol judging role while also launching his British The X Factor reality competition series for the network in Fall 2011.
TMZ managing editor Harvey Levin subsequently stated John "should replace" Cowell and TMZ also reported that an American Idol source claimed "talk on the set" was that John would be the replacement. John's representative responded by stating he's "not going to be a judge." Fox has remained mum on a possible replacement for Cowell.
