"American Idol" co-host Brian Dunkleman slid into the annals of Fox TV history after the series' debut season, but he's on the brink of a comeback of sorts.

Dunkleman is the host of "Idol Go Home," an online fantasy game featuring contestants on the show but not directly linked with "American Idol," New York Newsday reported.

Dunkleman will keep a daily blog starting Wednesday at idolgohome.com, he told the newspaper.

"I'll be offering my own insider's backstage view" on everything "Idol," he said.

Dunkleman said he did not spend a lot of time pondering whether to accept the Web hosting gig.

"I was asked, and they said 'Hey, we'll pay you to do it.'"
