Business mogul Donald Trump claims he was only looking out for his friend, former "Apprentice" advisor Carolyn Kepcher when he fired her from his company earlier this week.

"What I did was a good thing for Carolyn," he said. "I'm doing something that's best for her. She's a terrific person."

Kepcher was reportedly let go due to her turning into a "prima donna" following her small screen fame, The New York Post reported Friday.

"Let's put it this way: She enjoyed the success of 'The Apprentice' very much," Trump said.

People close to Kepcher reportedly scoffed at reports when they said she was hogging the spotlight and slacking on company time.

"She's always been very grounded and worked hard at balancing her work and family," a source told the Post.

Kepcher released a statement Thursday downplaying her dismissal, saying she and Trump had "different visions for my future role in the company."
