Julianne Hough has captured back-to-back Dancing with the Stars' titles, and now the 19-year-old professional dancer is preparing to launch her singing career.

"I just signed with Universal Records, so I'm going to be singing!" Hough told Extra immediately following her Tuesday night fifth-season Dancing victory with celebrity partner Helio Castroneves.  "I have my first album out in April, and my first single's out in January. I'm excited!"

A Universal Music Group Nashville spokesman confirmed to CMT on Thursday that Hough has signed with the label.  She will spend mid-December in Nashville recording tracks for her upcoming album, according to CMT, with her first Nashville Mercury single scheduled to drop next year.

"I'm going to be back and forth between Nashville and L.A. all the time," Hough told Extra during the show's Thursday night broadcast.  "Maybe New York too!"

Hough released her first country single -- "Will You Dance with Me" -- last May via iTunes.  The song peaked at No. 100 on Billboard's Pop 100 singles chart for the sales week ending June 9.
