Britney Spears heading home to Louisiana for Mardi Gras

Louisiana native Britney Spears is heading home to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans, it was reported Monday.

Spears will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" broadcast from "The Big Easy" on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 28, People magazine reported.
"I am honored to be a part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year," Spears said in a statement released Monday. "It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions and I am really looking forward to being involved."
The city recovering from Hurricane Katrina kicks off Mardi Gras on Feb. 18.
Spears, a native of Kentwood, La., will be toting "surprises for a group of very deserving young residents," ABC said.
