Brendan Fletcher shined when singing "Jolene" for his Blind Audition on The Voice, and now he's revealing why he joined Adam Levine's team, disappointing both newbie coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys.

Adam told Brendan on the show this his voice could be "the voice" because it's "not about somebody who can sing 8,000 different notes. It's about somebody who can connect with an audience and can make people feel something that is genuine."
Not only did Adam's wise words pull Brendan in, but the artist also appreciated the coach's enthusiasm.
"He was the first person to turn. I'm a firm believer in, you know, the person who believes in you first is the one you should go with," Brendan said. "So, that's my main reason for choosing Adam."
Brendan admitted, however, he had a different coach in mind before performing his stripped-down rendition of a Ray LaMontagne classic.
"I kind of went in with a gameplan. Really, my only plan was if someone turns around -- if anyone turns around -- I'm going with them. I did not expect three chairs to turn," explained the 26-year-old bartender from New Jersey who currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
"So, that kind of went out the window. I was kind of leaning towards [Blake Shelton] before going into the Blind Audition."
Ironically, Blake was the only coach who didn't fight for him, but the country star confessed Brendan has "a beautiful voice."
Miley called Brendan's performance "radical," and Alicia spoke deeply about how his talent can stand the test of time.
Despite the good arguments from the newbie coaches, Brendan has found a home with Adam on The Voice.
