With Episode 3 of Freeform's Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? fast approaching, Higgins revealed fans may not be getting to know the real them.

"Yeah, [the show's edit is] not always fair, and we'll watch it and be like, 'It's not like that!'" Higgins, 28, told Us Weekly of footage showing the couple bickering constantly.

Higgins, however, is hoping there will be a shift of public perception in the coming weeks.

"I am excited for them to see Lauren's funny side, her goofy side. I'm excited for them to see my side that's not as bland and vanilla. Because that's us!" Higgins insisted.

Bushnell, 26, has also been the target of criticism since the new reality show premiered earlier this month, especially when it comes to the couple's awkward dynamic with JoJo Fletcher, whom Higgins had confessed his love to on The Bachelor's 20th season.

"You know, the first episode was tough because I think people were like, 'Oh, gosh, Lauren, you were so confident on The Bachelor, and now you come off as insecure,'" the former flight attendant revealed to Us.

As shown on Happily Ever After?, Bushnell was reluctant to attend Fletcher's The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose taping in fear romantic feelings might come rushing back for Higgins upon seeing his ex again.

Bushnell also "dreaded" having lunch with Fletcher and her new fiance Jordan Rodgers. She worried the double date was going to be extremely uncomfortable, but the situation ended up giving Bushnell some closure.

"I am a human being at the end of the day," Bushnell confessed. "I'm no different! I have struggles. I have insecurities. Ben and I have struggles."

Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? currently airs on Tuesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Freeform.
