Less than a month after Flower -- the matriarch of Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor reality series -- was killed due to a cobra bite she suffered, her daughter Mozart died at the conclusion of Friday night's episode, The New York Timesreported Saturday.
Mozart's cause of death is still uncertain, according to The Times, however a voiceover of the show's narrator informed viewers during Friday night's episode it was most likely caused by a jackal. Similar to the way Meerkat Manor enthusiasts handled Flower's passing, tributes to Mozart have already begun to appear on the Internet, The Times reported.
Meerkat Manor first premiered on Animal Planet in September 2005 and documents the lives of several meerkat colonies living in southern Africa's Kalahari Desert. Both Flowers and Mozart were members of the Whiskers clan, which is the focus of a 13-year study by Cambridge University.
The book isn't completely closed on Flowers and Mozart. Queen of the Kalahari -- a film about Flower's life prior to Meerkat Manor -- is tentatively scheduled for release next year.
