'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest bit by a shark while swimming

Ryan Seacrest claims he received some unwanted attention during a recent outing to the beach.

"I was bit by a shark!" said the American Idol host during Monday morning's broadcast of his KIIS-FM radio show, Us Weekly reported.

Seacrest said he decided to go for a swim over the weekend and waded "about eight feet out" into the water when he felt something swim by.

"I thought it was a stick. I wasn't sure what had happened," recalled Seacrest. "I saw it swim! He took a bite, and he left."

However the culprit apparently left Seacrest with a memento from their encounter -- one of its teeth.

"[It] wasn't a great thing to find," he said. "It was like finding a splinter."

While Seacrest added he was "in pain" after the run in, it apparently wasn't anything that an Advil couldn't take care of.

"There were like 1,000 people in the ocean, and I get bit by the shark," said Seacrest
