'American Idol 5' runner-up Katharine McPhee breaks foot at concert

The runner-up from this season's "American Idol,"Katharine McPhee, fractured her foot backstage before the national "Idol" concert in Charlotte, N.C.

After just recently returning to the tour following treatment for bronchitis and laryngitis, the singer tripped backstage before the start of the show at Bobcats Arena, The New York Post reported Thursday.
She went onstage and performed her two songs anyway, wearing slippers. McPhee was taken to a hospital afterward, where X-rays determined that she had a hairline fracture in her foot.
"She's in discomfort, but she's fine," said Roger Widynowski, a spokesman for RCA, "She will continue on the tour and is not defaulting."
