'America's Got Talent' judge Brandy hit with second wrongful death suit

UPI News Service, 02/21/2007

A second wrongful death lawsuit has been against singer Brandy in connection with a fatal car crash in Los Angeles in December.

The suit was filed on behalf of the sons of Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died from injuries she received in the four-car accident, People magazine reported.

No dollar amount was specified in the suit. Paul Philips -- an attorney for Mrwan Mohamed, 14, and Kareem Mohamed, 10 -- said, "(this) is a priceless case to these kids who've lost their mother. These boys don't even quite understand their loss yet."

Aboudihaj's parents earlier filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the singer, claiming that she was "driving recklessly."

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office has not decided whether to charge the "America's Got Talent" judge, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, as recommended by case investigators.

If charged and convicted, Brandy, 28, could be sentenced up to a year in jail and be fined $1,000.
