Alyson Gilbert was revealed to be the fourth finalist eliminated from Nashville Star's sixth season during last night's live broadcast of the NBC reality series.

The 28-year-old from Crookstown, MN who currently resides in Jackson, TN was ousted from Nashville Star's sixth season based on home viewer votes cast immediately following last Monday night's live episode.

Alyson performed Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" during last Monday night's episode -- which was themed "Pop Goes Country" week -- and her musical mentor John Rich commented how she needed to be more consistent with her performances.  In addition, while John wanted to "speed it up," she wanted to "slow it down."

"We tried it both ways at rehearsals, and we kind of went down the middle more," commented Alyson during last Monday night's broadcast.  "The risk is people may not respond to it."

Unfortunately Nashville Star judge Jeffrey Steele didn't think Alyson achieved the goal of being consistent, as he had referred to her as "Dr. Jekyll, Alyson Hyde" after her performance.

"I'm the one that's been waving your flag that whole time, when they've been saying 'pageant singer, pageant singer,'  I said, 'This girl's got the package.  I really think she's got the package,'" continued Steele.  "But I don't know who I'm getting from week to week.  First week I loved it, last week I thought you really had a different side to you that I really liked.  But I don't know who's who.  This week was a little too pop for me.  I little too much pop in my country this week."

John was even more critical in his assessment of Alyson's performance.

"First of all, what are you doing?  It's 'Pop Goes Country.'  That's the name of this show," he told her.  "Nobody was up on their feet for you in this room.  You know why that is?  You didn't rock it.  You didn't take it anywhere special.  You took it to this vanilla, mediocre spot.  It sounded like you gargled with vanilla before you came out to sing it... I can't stand that song.  It's like the biggest bubble gum pop song of all time.  It was a huge challenge for you to make that something cool.  But it could have been done.  You didn't rock in my opinion, and you should have."

Alyson was then revealed to be among the bottom two vote-getters during last night's live Nashville Star broadcast, which was themed "Family Night."  Alyson performed "She's In Love With a Boy" during last night's broadcast before her elimination was revealed.

"I don't feel anything," commented Jewel after Alyson's performance.  "You're a better singer than what you've been singing.  I've heard you sing great, I haven't heard it come out.  I don't know what the head trip is.  Something's under your skin, but I'm just not a fan."

"I'm bummed out too a little bit," added Jeffrey.  "I'm the one that's been hanging onto you... I felt like you went against what you were being told to do."

While Rich disagreed with Jeffrey on that point and complimented Alyson for "listening very well," he added it was a mixed bag.

"I think you have moments of brilliance.  But moments don't make it at this point," he continued.  "You've got to be brilliant from beginning to end.  You're not right now.  There's a reason why you're in the bottom two.  There's a reason."

In addition to Alyson, Laura Fedor, an 18-year-old from Willoughby, OH, and Sophie Zalokar, a 16-year-old from Willoughby, were the other members of last night's bottom two vote-getters.  However it was Alyson who was given the boot.

"Of course in Nashville, the greatest singers from all over the world move here," said John after Alyson's ouster.  "I think you are a great singer... I think your equation is not right yet.  I think there's missing pieces, and that's why you got voted off."

Nashville Star's next episode will air live on Monday, July 7 at 9PM ET/PT, in which two of the Top 8 sixth-season finalists will be eliminated based on home viewer votes cast immediately after last night's broadcast.
