VH1 has ordered Scream Queens, a new reality competition series that will pit 10 aspiring actresses against one another to see who would make the best horror movie victim, The Hollywood Reporter reported Monday.

"Horror films have dominated the pop culture landscape for decades and along the way have produced some of the biggest names in Hollywood," VH1 programming executive Jeff Olde told The Reporter.

Scream Queens will follow the 10 participants as they learn from acting coach John Homa and compete in a series of challenges designed to test their skills in the horror movie genre, according to The Reporter

The participants' progress will be judged by a yet-to-be-announced Lionsgate Films director -- with the show's grand prize winner ultimately receiving a "major" role in a horror film from the production company, The Reporter reported.

"VH1 has had a tremendous track record in launching alternative programming that captures viewers' imaginations," Lionsgate television programming president Kevin Beggs told The Reporter.  "It's the perfect home for Scream Queens."

The eight-episode series is currently scheduled to debut in the fall.

Scream Queens is being executive produced by Joke Fincioen and Biagio Messina for Joke Productions.
