In the latest court appearance, singer Bobby Brown has been firmly reminded by a Massachusetts judge of a commitment to his two oldest children.

He was questioned about his failure to set up a college fund for the boy and girl, now teenagers, he had with an ex-girlfriend, a fund the court says is due $176,000.

"The payments were supposed to be made in October and December of last year," Probation Department spokesman Jerry DeLuca said. "Those payments were not made."

Last year, Brown, now married to singer Whitney Houston, was ordered to jail for a day for failure to pay child support. Until last week, Brown was three months behind in those payments, WCVB-TV, Boston, said Thursday.

"You can't wait three months," Probate Court Judge Paula Carey said. "It's got to be paid each and every month."
