Mothers can be helpful and inspirational when their daughters compete in beauty pageants -- but what if mom had to actually compete too?

The CW will answer that question in Crowned, a new eight-episode reality series that will follow how mothers and daughters deal with the stress of a traditional beauty pageant while competing in it together as a pair.  Talk about a family affair.

In each episode, mother and daughter teams from across America will use each other for support, because rather than having to focus on just one part of the duo competing, both will have to find flattering clothing, concoct creative ways to express their views on world issues, practice a dance number and participate in other weekly challenges.

Three judges will oversee the competition, which according to The CW, will also include a "celebrity mother-daughter pair" that will be announced at a later date.  In the end, one mother-daughter team will be "crowned" the show's winners, entitling them to a prize package that includes a $100,000 cash award, representation to appear at charity events across the country and a pair of tiaras.

Crowned was created by Laurie Girion (Cheerleader Nation and Last Comic Standing), who will also executive produce the series, and a production of Fox Television Studios.
