Litia, shocked and blindsided by Grant's final choice, claimed on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose that Grant had assured her from their first solo date in Los Angeles that she was going to be his winner -- to the point where he almost stopped the show -- and then he "never let up" on those promises.
Litia also alleged that Grant had actually said he was "excited" to get engaged to her the night before the Final Rose Ceremony took place.
"I expressed regret on [After the Final Rose], 100 percent," Grant said during a recent appearance on "The Viall Files" podcast.
"And I don't take back anything I said because in my perspective, I made sure that I didn't make any promises. I didn't make any promises to Juliana."
Grant went on to explain, "I understand how certain things can be misconstrued or maybe looked at with hope, and maybe saying 'I love you' -- I did [say that]. I went there with an open heart and I fell for Litia one thousand percent."
Grant, who had Juliana by his side for the interview, told Nick that he "would be more careful" in hindsight.
"I will be careful with how I move with my feelings and not jumping so fast, but... I had been in a seven-year relationship and I've been single for a while, so I was ready to fall in love," Grant insisted.
"And I went in there super open to falling in love. I went in there super trusting of everything around me. I was kind of giddy and happy."
Grant went on to seemingly suggest that The Bachelor producers played a role in how he handled his love for Litia while filming the show.
"I allowed for external circumstances -- that I thought had my best interest -- to kind of lead me in the direction where, in normal life, I wouldn't normally handle things that way at a certain point," Grant admitted.

"But also, I was taken by surprise on a couple of things. But it was already too late to retract. I was under the mindset of, 'If this is somebody I'm in love with, I'm going to ride or die with them and I'm going to try to make things work.'"

Grant confirmed that he was definitely "in love with two people" and so it made his ending difficult to navigate.
"It's just one person was 'my person' more, and that's just the way that the cookie crumbled. That's the way that things happened," The Bachelor star noted.
"So I feel for Litia. I hope that she does great moving forward, I really do."
Grant also said that on After the Final Rose, he was in "no position to argue" with Litia.
"Our time was coming, Juliana and I, and that was [Litia]'s time. That was her moment to express how she felt, and for me to sit there and argue with her, it just wouldn't be the right thing to do," Grant recalled to Nick.
"So regardless of how the public perceived me, I just had to own whatever she felt and whatever she said -- I had to own it. I'm not going to sit there and argue onstage. She is the one who got broken up with, and I didn't mean to hurt her, truly."

"And I kind of just apologized because what was coming next was my fiancee coming out, and that's what I was really looking forward to," Grant concluded.
After The Bachelor finale aired, Grant told Us Weekly of Litia's claims, "There's a lot [she said] that I didn't align with."
Grant seemed to suggest that he had made vague statements to Litia that she possibly misinterpreted or misunderstood.
"When you are the Bachelor, you do see your Final 2 contestants as somebody that could be your wife," Grant explained.
"That's where some confusion came into play. There's room for interpretation when things are said, 'off camera.' At that point in time, I can't really say much. I'm not going to argue."

For Juliana's part, she revealed on the April 1 episode of "The Viall Files" that Litia's behavior really "hurt" her.
Juliana said she believes that Litia had taken shots at her personally at the end of their The Bachelor journey.
Litia, for example, told Grant during the Final Rose Ceremony, "I'm disappointed. You're different than I thought. I love [Juliana], and I would have a lot of questions if I were her from the things that you said to me."
Litia subsequently shared on After the Final Rose that she's "glad" that whole last week of filming The Bachelor won't be a part of her love story (knowing it will be a part of Juliana's).
"I know that I deserve someone waking up one morning and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that [he's] going to choose me. I think every woman deserves that, and I'm excited to find it," Litia declared.
Juliana told Nick that Litia's comments were unexpected and disappointing.

"That took me by surprise and my feelings were hurt by it, for sure."
However, Grant and Juliana appear to still be happily engaged, and Grant said he'll be moving to Boston in the near future to be close to Juliana's family.
While the couple is in "no rush" to get married, Grant and Juliana said they are already envisioning an "intimate" wedding in Italy.
