The Bachelor star Colton Underwood has said he'd like to propose marriage to Cassie Randolph "within the next year," but he apparently made that decision without having at least one important conversation with her first -- namely, asking Cassie how many children she envisions having.

"Oh, I don't know! I obviously have always wanted to be a dad growing up, so I'm looking forward to that day whenever it comes. That will be a conversation we'll have to have. We've never really had it!" Colton told Extra in a recent interview when asked how many children the couple hoped to have someday.

While Colton and Cassie are clearly taking things slow -- they're not even living together in the Los Angeles area -- The Bachelor star insisted can see his future.

And that future includes two or three babies.

"When I grew up, in my family, we were always in twos. And I was always raised that when you get dogs, you get two dogs. So probably -- my guess would be two kids," Colton shared.

"Two or three. I'll zone in on two or three for my preferences."

Since going public with their romance after The Bachelor finale aired in March, Cassie and Colton have been mostly on the road traveling for events and public appearances.

Colton insisted his favorite place in America right now is actually Los Angeles or Huntington Beach, because that's where he's able to spend alone time with Cassie alone or her family.

"You have conversations that's sort of what's next, where is our life going. But right now we're enjoying dating," Colton told Extra.

"We're enjoying getting to know each other more, and we're really beginning to find more out about each other. I think that's very important for our relationship."

As for what's next for the happy couple, Colton said he looks forward to traveling more with Cassie on vacation -- just for fun and not for work.

Colton ended his The Bachelor journey by selecting Cassie when two other women, Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin, were still in the running for his heart.

But when Colton professed his love for Cassie before the Fantasy Suite portion of their date in Portugal, Cassie determined she needed to quit the show because she didn't reciprocate such strong feelings yet.

Cassie also felt she wasn't ready to accept a marriage proposal from Colton and wanted him to leave the process with the happy ending he had hoped for.

Colton, however, refused to give up, and after dumping both Tayshia and Hannah G. in Portugal, he begged Cassie to simply give him a chance and date him -- with no expectations of an engagement.

Cassie obliged and then traveled to Spain to meet Colton's family while cameras were still rolling. Once the show ended, Cassie slowly fell in love with Colton in the real world.
