"Survivor" winner Brian Heidik, 38, appeared before the Douglas County Magistrate Court in Atlanta on charges of domestic violence and animal cruelty.

Heidik was jailed Tuesday for battery and animal cruelty and appeared before the judge Wednesday, but no details were available, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Heidik competed on the CBS television adventure show "Survivor" from September through December 2002, winning the game's $1 million prize as its sole survivor.

A former football player for North Carolina State University and a part-time actor, Heidik lives in Quartz Hill, Calif. He has appeared on "Baywatch Nights"; "Doogie Howser, M.D."; and "Days of Our Lives." His credits also include "Chick Street Fighter" and "Virgins of Sherwood Forest."
