CBS has announced the identities of the 18 diverse castaways who will attempt to outwit, outplay and outlast each other when Survivor premieres its new edition with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, March 9 at 8PM ET/PT.

Survivor's new castaways include stay-at-home parents, an Ivy league student, a pageant coach, a data scientist, a seminary student, a retired firefighter, and a veterinarian. They range in age from 19 to 58 years old.

Following its debut broadcast, Survivor will move to its regular timeslot of Wednesday nights from 8-9PM ET/PT beginning on March 16.

"This season continues to define a bold new era of the series with the return of risky beware advantages, game-changing twists, and a relentless pace that will push these castaways to their limits," the network revealed.

"Values will be tested and the players' motivations highlighted."

The game will once again take place on the islands of Fiji, and the 18 castaways will begin the game in three tribes of six players.

CBS teased Season 42 of Survivor, once again hosted by Jeff Probst, will be fast and more extreme than most past seasons, and the competition will begin from the moment the players step foot on the beach.

Unpredictable situations will test even the strongest of players, and similar to the format of Season 41, food, rewards and supplies will be minimal.

Only one castaway will claim the title of "Sole Survivor" and win the money.
