Simon Cowell says he considered sleeping with Paula Abdul but didn't want their personal lives to interfere with their professional careers.

Cowell said hooking up with his fellow former American Idol judge and current The X Factor mentor might have complicated things, especially since the duo has worked side-by-side for nine years, Us Weekly reported Thursday.

"I mean, the truth was, on the first two seasons [of Idol], we couldn't travel on the same plane together. We really disliked each other that much," Cowell told Barbara Walters during her 10 Most Fascinating People special on Wednesday, according to Us.

Cowell insisted the pair didn't mesh well due to "sexual tension... on her part."

And when asked by Walters whether Abdul hoped to pursue a relationship with him, Cowell replied, "a million percent."

However, the reality TV star admitted he didn't exactly hate the idea.

"I considered it, but then I thought, 'I don't think the after would be as good as the before.' I'd let her stay for a few hours, but then it would have to be goodnight," Cowell joked.
