"I wanted to jump on here real quick before the news got out and people try to be messy and make this something that it's not," Shaunie, 51, began in her late January statement.
"This is just called growth and moving forward. I'm announcing today that Basketball Wives will not be returning. Since its launch in 2010, this franchise has been the defining part of my professional journey."
Shaunie said her stint on Basketball Wives began as "a vision to tell" her story as well as other stories of women who are like her.
"[It] grew into a cultural movement that created opportunity, sparked conversation and honestly, amplified voices that deserve to be heard," she continued.
Shaunie went on to express her gratitude and thanks to VH1, Shed Media, and BET for "their partnership and belief in a show that left a long-lasting mark on entertainment."
"Most importantly, I'm thankful to the women who trusted me with their stories and the creatives in front of and behind the camera who helped bring this vision to life season after season," Shaunie said.
"Growth requires evolution and knowing when to honor a chapter while preparing for what's next. While this journey is concluding, I'm actively developing new projects that align with my personal and professional purpose."
Shaunie shared how she wants to continue creating "meaningful opportunities" for women across media and business.
"Basketball Wives will always be a cherished part of my legacy and a foundation of my career as a producer. Thank you for your support from Day 1, and I look forward to this next season of leadership, creativity and expansion and sharing it with you," she concluded.
In the caption of her post, Shaunie wrote, "Basketball Wives Update: You heard it here first. Basketball Wives will not be returning."
She pointed out how the Basketball Wives series became a platform that "amplified voices and opened doors" for so many women.

"This isn't an ending, it's a transition. I'm stepping into a new season with exciting projects ahead that align with where I am personally and professionally. More to come," she added.
When Basketball Wives first premiered in April 2010 on VH1, Shaunie and Shaquille had just filed for divorce after seven years of marriage and five children together.
Shaunie remarried pastor Keion Henderson in 2022.
Over the years, Basketball Wives spawned several spinoffs, including Basketball Wives LA from 2011-2016 and Basketball Wives Orlando in 2023.
Basketball Wives, which wrapped its twelfth season in July 2025, is still available to stream on Paramount+.
