Audrina Patridge was apparently pumped to participate in Dancing with the Stars until MTV reportedly pulled the plug.

"She really hoped to do Dancing with the Stars this past season, and she got so close that the contract was drawn up and her name was on the lineup," a source on the ABC reality series told Us Weekly in the magazine's June 21 issue.

"But at the last minute, MTV swooped in and said she couldn't do it."

Patridge has been a The Hills regular since it premiered in 2006 and will be starring in her own new Mark Burnett-produced reality series for MTV, which the network began developing last summer.

While MTV did not return Us' request for comment, Patridge's Dancing with the Stars participation wouldn't have been the first time a The Hills star participated in a broadcast network reality competition series.

Last summer, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt both competed -- briefly, it turned out -- on NBC's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! revival.

The Hills sixth and final season is currently airing Tuesdays at 10PM ET/PT.
