Adam Lambert's hectic schedule reportedly didn't leave him enough time for romance.

The American Idol eighth-season runner-up and his boyfriend -- 24-year-old interior designer Drake LaBry -- have split, Us Weekly reported Sunday.

"They're still friends, and it's totally mutual," a source told Us. "They will still talk and see each other."

Lambert's debut album -- dubbed "For Your Entertainment" -- is slated to drop on November 24, and the timing of the album's release and his split from LaBry are apparently related.

"Adam is crazy busy right now getting the album done and squeezing in rehearsals," the source told Us. "They both felt this moment is too important for Adam to focus on anything else but getting this album out and having it be a huge hit."

Lambert signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/RCA Records a few weeks after Kris Allen defeated him to take home Idol's eighth-season title.

Lambert formally revealed he's gay in a Rolling Stone cover story interview released in June -- the same month he and LaBry went public with their relationship.
