With the beginning of ticket sales coinciding with the season premiere of the NBC reality TV series on Sunday, the Broadway production has already passed the $1 million mark despite an opening day date of July 24, Playbill.com reported.

The reality series, which will ultimately select the leads for the Broadway revival, has met with similar success after the Nielsen ratings revealed 11.6 million people tuned in to watch its premiere episode.

The winners of the NBC show will be selected by the musical's co-creator Jim Jacobs, director-choreographer Kathleen Marshall and producer David Ian.

The Web site said while "Access Hollywood" co-anchor Billy Bush and British actress Denise Van Outen will serve as the series hosts, former "Grease" star Olivia Newton John stopped by for the first two episodes to offer the would-be stars support.
