Details of Kim Richards' alleged drunken arrest continue to leak out.

A source at the Beverly Hilton Hotel -- where The Real Housewives star was arrested Thursday and charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer -- told People that Richards became "aggressive and loud" into the night.

She was "insulting to other guests," said the source, adding that "it was clear she was very drunk."

Richards, who is a recovering alcoholic, is a "frequent guest" of the hotel and reportedly enjoyed "several vodka cocktails" at the Polo Lounge bar before things got out of hand.

When the bartender tried to cut Richards off by offering her a non-alcoholic beverage due to hotel policy, according to the source, "[Kim] got very mad at the suggestion. She insisted on having another vodka drink and when the bartender kept saying no, she flipped out."

Hotel security then reportedly attempted to "gently" escort her away from the bar but she "was having none of it."

"She caused a huge scene and was so out of control," the source told People.

Because of Richards' inappropriate and disturbing behavior, security allegedly had "no choice" but to call police.

In a statement obtained by People from the Beverly Hills Police Department, authorities responded to "reports of a possible fight" around 1:30AM and then Richards was taken into custody at 2:04AM.

Richards "was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest," the statement reportedly read.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was reportedly released from custody about eight hours later at 10:36AM on Thursday.

Richards has been "acting increasingly out of it," a family insider told the magazine. "She's been a mess, showing up late to events and social gatherings and acting bizarre or belligerent or both."

Bravo and Richards both reportedly declined comment on the matter.
