Julianne Hough claims she is sticking to her "plan" to not participate in Dancing with the Stars' next season in the fall.

"I wasn't supposed to be back this season... things have obviously changed," Hough told Entertainment Tonight following Tuesday night's live Dancing with the Stars eighth-season results show that saw her survive another week with celebrity partner and real-life boyfriend Chuck Wicks.

"But the plan is to take next season off."

Last November, the two-time Dancing with the Stars professional champ had stated she would not be back for the show's currently airing spring installment.

She subsequently reiterated the decision was "final" because she wanted to focus on her singing career and be "taken seriously" as a musician.

However shortly thereafter Hough stated she "may have put my foot in my mouth when I said I wasn't going to come back next season" -- and that turned out to be the case when she was paired with Wicks for the eighth season, which she later explained was a "last-minute deal."

Despite her current participation, Hough said she still plans to sit-out the fall edition of the ABC reality series.

"I'm in the middle of writing for my new record and I really want to focus on that," she told Entertainment Tonight.  "That's my passion, and going out and touring with George Strait is my priority."

Hough won the Top New Artist and Top New Female Vocalist categories at Sunday night's 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards and told Entertainment Tonight that while she's focused on "making that record that's really Julianne Hough" -- she won't completely cut Dancing with the Stars out of her life.

"I'll come back and do guest spots and dances on the show," she said.  "Of course I'll be back."
