The 33-year-old from Olathe, KS won the grand prize package of her own HGTV show based on home viewer votes cast immediately following last Sunday night's penultimate HGTV Design Star broadcast.

"It's obviously beautiful to be the winner and I cannot thank America enough," said Jen after host Clive Pearse revealed she was the winner.

"I think when Clive announced my name -- that I was the next Design Star -- I totally went into shock.  There's all this confetti and your heart's popping out of your dress.  It's crazy and I think I'm still in shock.  You cannot describe it.  The first day I showed up and they dropped me off I totally never thought I'd be in this position.  It was a long, painful road to get here... But it feels great to be here."

Jen defeated Matt Locke, a 38-year-old from Los Angeles, CA, to take home HGTV Design Star's third-season title.  For making it to the final two, both Jen and Matt received $5,000 and a seven-day Caribbean cruise.

"This show taught me to be a better designer, a better person," said Matt.  "I have all these amazing friends -- lifetime friends -- so I sort of feel like I won already."

Jen's new HGTV series is currently slated to debut in January.

"I cannot thank America enough because I am only here because of America.  That is so cool," said Jen.

"Being the winner means to me that I get a chance to inspire America and come up with a show that America will be like, 'Okay, we're glad we chose her.'  I am excited for this new adventure."
