A police officer in Newport Beach, Calif., says Jason Wahler of "The Hills" was arrested for driving under the influence.

Hours after being taken into custody by police Friday, Wahler was released on his own recognizance.
The arrest of the "Hills" personality comes a week after a video that appeared online showed Wahler being arrested by Mexican police over a March 11 nightclub altercation.
Speaking with People magazine in 2007, Wahler admitted alcohol can cause him problems.
"I did try drugs, but it was never my thing. It was alcohol, for sure. It would take me about 10 drinks before that other side came out. It's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," Wahler said."I'm embarrassed as hell, but I really do not remember my arrests," he added.
