Emily Maynard was apparently stubbornly determined to end her The Bachelorette journey in a relationship but not engaged.

Maynard "entered the [final Rose Ceremony] day hell-bent on not accepting anyone's proposal," a source told Us Weekly, adding that the show's eighth-season finale broadcast will certainly be a "roller coaster."

Following her heartbreaking June 2011 split from ex-fiance and former fifteenth-season The Bachelor star Brad Womack, Maynard was reportedly desperate to avoid another failed relationship that would play out publicly for both her own and her six-year-old daughter Ricki's sake.

"She didn't want that to happen again," another source told Us.

Maynard also reportedly had a very difficult time chosing between her remaining two bachelors -- 30-year-old race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. and 28-year-old bottled water company founder Jef Holm.

"She was truly in love with two really good people. It wasn't clear cut," a third source told the magazine.
