Duets eliminated Alexis Foster during Thursday night's performance show, which featured the eight contestants each taking the stage with one of the show's four celebrity duet partners.

Alexis was eliminated by Duets celebrity partners and established recording artists John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke after she landed in the bottom two on the night's duets score chart and then performed a new "sing for your life" solo song for the show's celebrity judging panel.

"This has been so much fun. I never thought that I would ever do any type of TV show like this. It was my very first audition and I just did it on a whim, and I'm just glad that I got this opportunity. So thank you!" Alexis said following her ouster.

Alexis was beaten out by fellow bottom-two amateur singer Jason Farol during Duets' first-ever "solo showdown," which was a cappella without backup singers or a band.  She sang "Natural Woman" for her "sing for your life" performance while Jason sang a rendition of "Me and Mrs. Jones."

Alexis and Jason were forced to sing an additional "survival" song after they received the lowest overall scores of the night from three of the four celebrity partners -- every partner but their own -- when being judged on their duet performance's quality and presentation.

Alexis was paired up with Robin as one of his two selected duet partners, while Jason was discovered by and sang with Kelly. Robin was disappointed one of his singers was the first to go in the competition.

"What a surprise! Who would've expected. Honestly, I think she has an amazing voice and maybe we didn't nail it. That's what art is all about. You can't try to please everybody. You give your heart and soul and you hope that it connects, but it doesn't always connect. So I guess between Jennifer And Kelly and John, we didn't connect. So we'll just try on other days -- work on it tomorrow," Robin explained.

"For her, I'm going to take care of her no matter what, you know what I mean? So it's going to be alright."

Earlier in the night, Alexis and Robin took the stage and sang a duet of "Killing Me Softly." Jason and Kelly performed a rendition of "Hallelujah" for their duet.

In addition to Alexis and Jason, Duets' other first-season amateur singers also performed with their celebrity duet partners and were ranked on the score chart from first to eighth place. However, the contestants who finished sixth place or better were ultimately declared safe.

J. Rome topped the night's scoring chart with partner Jennifer, while John Glosson finished in second place alongside Jennifer as well. Jordan Meredith came in third place after singing with Kelly, and Bridget Carrington landed in fourth place on the score chart following her performance with John. John also took the stage and sang a duet with Meleana Brown, who ended up in fifth place on the chart. Olivia Chisholm, who performed with Robin, finished in sixth place.

Jason came in seventh place after his duet performance, while Alexis landed in eighth -- and last -- place on the Duets score chart.
