The, who was found dead in his South Dakota home at age 50 this past weekend, passed away from a heart attack, Us Weekly reported

A heart attack is what preliminary autopsy results revealed on Tuesday.

Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin told Fox News that authorities are still waiting for the toxicology report to come back, however, there's no reason to believe drugs were involved. Drug abuse is reportedly unlikely considering scar tissue was found on Lara's heart, which typically indicates a heart attack.

Merwin added that Lara, who lived in Sturgis, did not suffer at the time of his death.

Lara was the captain of Cornelia Marie for about a decade as featured on the Discovery Channel's hit show. Deadliest Catch recently premiered its eleventh season this past April.
