David Hasselhoff is apparently hoping his third marriage will be the charm.

The former America's Got Talent judge, 63, proposed to his beautiful blonde girlfriend Hayley Roberts, 36, during a romantic beachside picnic in Malibu, CA recently, the UK's Hello! magazine reported.

"I had a saying, 'You don't get married because you want to live with someone, you get married because you can't live without them.' I felt that way," David said. "I knew that I was really unhappy without her."

Hasselhoff and Roberts met back in 2011 when he served as a judge on the fifth season of Britain's Got Talent. At the time, Roberts was a fan who approached him for an autograph. He only agreed to sign his name in exchange for her phone number, and they went on a date a few days later, according to the Daily Mail.

"I waited to propose because I thought I was too old for her," Hasselhoff admitted to Hello!. "I've asked her to marry me before but those times were for fun. This time, it was special and from my heart."

"We were both in tears... I genuinely had no idea he was going to do that. I'm still so overwhelmed," Roberts said of the proposal.

"I thought he was just joking around at first. He's asked me before, but it was never for real. Then he pulled out the ring. I cried so hard that he didn't get around to actually asking, 'Will you marry me?' until about ten minutes later."

Roberts insisted she's not really phased by their huge age gap.

"I don't worry about it," the Welsh beauty said. "I don't want to miss out on being with someone I love because of what might happen down the line."

Hasselhoff was previously married to singer Catherine Hickland and actress Pamela Bach. He has two daughters Hayley, 23, and Taylor-Ann, 25, who apparently knew of their father's plans to pop the question.

After leaving America's Got Talent after Season 4 in 2009, Hasselhoff competed on the eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars with Kym Johnson.

Hasselhoff and his daughters also starred in a reality series that aired on A&E called The Hasselhoffs in December 2010, however, the network canceled the show after only two episodes. Taylor-Ann went on to star on the third season of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills on E!.
