David Alan Grier says he is "very ashamed" and has apologized for the profanity-laced tirades he directed at Dancing with the Stars' judges during media interviews that followed his elimination on last week's results show.

"First of all, I want to say that language like that is inappropriate and rude.  There's no excuse for behavior like that.  I really made a jerk of myself, but god was it fun.  Really, I feel bad about it," Grier said during a Tuesday night appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

"I thought it was funny, but it was only me.  I learned a lot... I learned that even though it feels really good to say certain things, you shouldn't say them."

The actor and his partner Kym Johnson became the fifth couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' eighth season during last week's live results show on ABC.

After his ouster, Grier took out his disappointment on the show's three judges --  Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman -- during interviews with various media outlets.

"It is what it is.  I don't want to diss the show, but it is a reality show," he told Access Hollywood after his elimination.  "At the end of the day it's entertainment, it's not the Olympics."

Grier went on to say he "really wanted to dance well" and "took every week seriously" before directly blaming the judges for his elimination.

"I do feel like we never stood a chance with the judges, but we still tried to rise above that," he told Access Hollywood before being asked specifically about Inaba -- who had previously worked as a Fly Girl with the comedian in the early 1990s on In Living Color.

"There's several people that can kiss my ass, but she's definitely the first in line to wrap her lips around my a**hole. Literally, she can eat a d**k.  I mean to stand up week after week and be humiliated by people who have no right to talk to me... I am the proudest that I didn't climb across that table and slap the s**t out of every one of those judges.  That's my proudest accomplishment."

Grier added that he felt he gave some "class" to Dancing with the Stars during his time on the show.

"Week after week, I spent so much time trying to breathe class into what for me was a classless situation," he told Access Hollywood.  "So it shouldn't be like that, but that's the way it is."

Grier also had some harsh words for Dancing with the Stars during a post-elimination interview with OK! Weekly.

"We're not going to cure cancer and I don't think we'll heal any babies with this show. It is what it is but you put a lot into it," he told OK! before turning his attention to Inaba and her fellow judges.

"She better not come within 10 feet of me because she's getting a foot in her ass.  I feel like we never got the respect of the judges. Never!"

With a week to think about his ouster, Grier told Kimmel he and Inaba were "acquainted" and "always friendly" during their time together on In Living Color and Dancing with the Stars.

"Before I go further my manager said I really should apologize to her formally," Grier told Kimmel when he asked why Grier had seemed to target Inaba more than the other judges. 

"Carrie Ann -- hey, what's up -- stuff got a little crazy on the press line the other night, and I kind of melted down," he said as he looked onto a television camera.  "But hey baby, I hope we're still cool."

Grier's appearance in Kimmel concluded with the playing of "instructional tape" skit in which Grier offered some advice to celebrities thinking about participating in a reality show -- with one of the pieces of advice being "don't badmouth the judges."
