The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 32, and pro dancer, 39, said in a Friday video on TikTok that they could no longer give away tickets to a show.
"So, we have some bad news," Whitney said in the video.
"We just got out of rehearsal, and we were both informed that we actually can't do a giveaway for the Dancing with the Stars live show."
Mark went on to explain how the decision came "directly from ABC and BBC" and was "completely out of our hands."
Whitney elaborated, "It just really sucks because Mark and I just want to do something really special for you guys that have shown us so much support and love, for us and the show. We're going to get creative. We're going to think of something!"
Mark agreed with Whitney and concluded, "We're going to think of something else to do for you guys to show how grateful we are."
Whitney captioned her TikTok post, "We're gunna get creative and find a way to make it up to you! Love you guys!"
The reaction to Whitney and Mark's bad news was mixed, with some people thinking the pair had no right to offer a Dancing with the Stars giveaway to begin with.
"No kidding... 'vote for us and I'll give you a gift' that's rigging the whole thing," one TikTok user commented.
Another person wrote, "It would be like bribing the audience. Of course they aren't allowed to do that. It's a competition."

Other fans, however, defended Whitney and Mark, saying that they had good -- and pure -- intentions for the giveaway.
"If it was anyone else, these comments would not be half as hateful," one person chimed in.
"I have NEVER seen 'fans' be this cruel to contestants and PROS and I've been watching since I was a child. Such gross behavior tbh... thank you for trying to do something nice for the people sending love your way!"
One person wrote how Whitney just wanted to "do something nice" for her supporters.
Some Dancing with the Stars fans may have had an issue with Whitney and Mark's offer because the pair has been at the top -- or at least right near it -- of the judges' leaderboard week after week.
Whitney and Mark received a near-perfect score for their quickstep to the song "Popular" on "Wicked Night" last week, and they earned the first 10s of the season.
Whitney told Us Weekly after the show that she felt "very grateful" for the 39 out of 40 possible judges' points.
"[It] also feels like a big reward," Whitney said.

Mark also gushed about how he was "very proud" of his celebrity partner, who truly hustled in rehearsals and on the stage.
"It's a lot of work [and] a lot of detail went into this," Mark explained to the magazine.
"I just always say, like, 'As long as you finish and you feel like you did the best and it felt good, that's the goal.' There's nothing worse than finishing and being like, 'Dang it, I could have done better.'"

Whitney and Mark will be taking the stage once again on Tuesday, October 28 for "Halloween Week."
Whitney and Mark will reportedly be dancing a jazz routine to "Brain Stew" by Green Day followed by a "Monster Night Monster-thon" dance relay.
