The Bachelorette alum Charity Lawson has revealed how she thinks The Bachelor franchise will need to change in order to survive.

"I feel like, in a weird way, we talk about it a lot, especially people amongst the franchise. It's a big part of our lives. It's how I met my fiance and how a lot of other people met special people in their lives."

Charity said, for that reason, she wants it "to work."
However, Charity noted, "I do think there needs to be some adjustments. We need to switch some things up just a little bit."
Charity went on to explain how one of those changes should be the show's format.
"I think that the show definitely doesn't keep up with shows like Love Island or Love Is Blind," Charity shared.
"I think The Bachelor works because it's very traditional and we know kind of what to expect, but I think because people know what to expect, that has kind of worn off."
She added, "I just think there needs to be something that we don't see coming, something that maybe gives the leads more autonomy in decision-making just to, you know, keep people on their toes!"
When asked if she still watches The Bachelor franchise, Charity replied, "Yes and no."
"More so I watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette series. I did not watch this previous season of The Golden Bachelor [starring Mel Owens]," Charity revealed.
"And I think that's okay. I kind of lost interest a little bit after [Gerry Turner] and [Theresa Nist]. Let's have a moment of silence."

Their marriage only lasted a few months, as Gerry filed for divorce in April 2024.
Charity went on to share the biggest misconception The Bachelor fans have about the show, in her opinion.
"A lot. The fans are a little crazy!" Charity said.
"I'd have to say that they think it's scripted. I think people think, 'In this environment, you can't find love, it's not real, and everything is fake, [probably due to] the track record of the show."
Charity said three recent seasons have "produced really good love stories."
In addition to her own The Bachelorette season, which ended with Dotun Olubeko proposing marriage to her, she also named The Bachelor Season 27 star Zach Shallcross and his winner Kaity Biggar as well as The Bachelor Season 28 star and his winner Kelsey Anderson.

"Yes, it's a genuine love story, but I think [fans] still don't believe that," she noted.
"We are living in a state of constantly having to prove ourselves, which doesn't matter. They think it's not real, but yeah, it can happen!"
After Jenn Tran starred on Season 21 of The Bachelorette and Grant filmed The Bachelor's 29th season, ABC decided to skip a new The Bachelorette season for 2025.
"Bachelor franchise is in shambles because of you and Grant," a person wrote to Jenn on social media.
Jenn's season was considered a disaster because her engagement to Devin Strader ended before she filmed After the Final Rose.
And Grant's season was criticized because he couldn't make up his mind between his Final 2 women, Juliana Pasquarosa and Litia Garr, minutes before the Final Rose Ceremony.
Grant and Juliana ended up getting engaged on the March 2025 finale, but they announced their split in June.
The Bachelor also decided to take a break by not airing Season 30 on ABC this year.
However, ABC aired Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season -- in a new location and with a new game show component -- and Mel's season of The Golden Bachelor last year.
And Taylor Frankie Paul's season of The Bachelorette is also scheduled to premiere on Sunday, March 22 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
