Caila Quinn admits she did tell Ashley Iaconetti she wouldn't appear on Bachelor in Paradise but then she changed her mind -- which probably shouldn't come as a shock to viewers after watching last night's episode.

"We had spoken before [filming] and [Ashley] had mentioned she was coming, hence everything that unfolded. But, I think this was healthy for all parties," Quinn told The Huffington Post during a lengthy podcast.

Iaconetti was furious at Quinn for entering Paradise and immediately asking out Jared Haibon, whom Iaconetti has been obsessed with for the past year since they appeared on Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise together.

Iaconetti felt Quinn had lied to her because Ben Higgins' ex-girlfriend insisted she wouldn't be appearing on the show to begin with -- not to mention she allegedly said Haibon wasn't even her type and she wasn't attracted to him.

"Ashley and I had hung out a couple of times. I still to this day think she's super sweet and super genuine, and hope one day we can get back to where we were," Quinn told the publication.

"Before Paradise, we had hung out and she said, 'Caila, whatever you do, don't come to Paradise, [because] I know Jared will like you.' And I said, 'Don't worry, I'm not coming.'"

Quinn explained, however, there's a good reason why she initially had no interest in a Paradise stint.

"At the time, I was dating somebody. I had no intention of coming [on Paradise] and even after I had broken up with that person, I was like, 'I don't think I'm coming,' and it was a very last-minute decision," Quinn said.

Quinn's story is believable because, as shown on Monday night's episode of Bachelor in Paradise, Quinn couldn't decide whether she'd like to stay at the home base with Haibon or accept Brett Melnick's date invitation. She said "yes" and "no" multiple times and kind of messed with their emotions.

"I didn't think I needed to call [Ashley] and get her approval to come and meet somebody new," Quinn sniped. "But, originally, I had mentioned to her I wouldn't come. I had made that promise. And apparently I should have called her. But I came anyway."

Quinn confessed she also liked the idea the men in Paradise wouldn't be expecting her arrival.

"That's kind of how Paradise works. You want to be a surprise. I thought it would be fun to see who was there. And, you know, girls don't really like surprises. They really want a heads up," Quinn said.

Quinn's surprise factor was certainly a hit, as all the guys gushed about her beauty, hair and body when she came onto the scene. Haibon seemed to fall for the bachelorette immediately.

When asked whether Quinn was taken aback by all the criticism regarding her situation with Haibon and Iaconetti, she told The Post, "It did kind of surprise me how close [the other cast members] were to Ashley and how much they sided with her."

Quinn continued, "But at the same time, I do know that she's really close with everybody and she has really deep roots. That's kind of the name of the game."

Despite the fact Iaconetti went as far as to call Quinn "fake" and "a backstabbing whore," Quinn acknowledged, "There's a reason people love [Ashley], and they wanted to protect her and I totally understand that. And I kind of stepped on that territory."
