American Idol's next season will debut as a two-night, four-hour premiere event -- with the first episode airing on January 15 and the second episode airing the following night on Thursday, January 16 at 8PM ET/PT.

In addition, once the season's results shows will only be a half-hour long when they begin airing on Thursday nights in the spring. The results shows will air for 30 minutes from 8:00-8:30PM ET/PT for eight weeks.

American Idol's thirteenth-season judging panel will feature Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban. Randy Jackson will no longer serve as a regular judge on the panel, as he will take on the in-house mentor role following Jimmy Iovine's departure instead.

Ryan Seacrest -- "the heart and soul of Idol," according to the network -- will also reprise his role as host.
