The CW has announced that America's Next Top Model's ninth season will premiere on Wednesday, September 19 with a special two-hour episode beginning at 8PM ET/PT.

Top Model's ninth edition was first announced as part of The CW's May announcement of the network's Fall 2007 primetime programming schedule.  According to Top Model creator Tyra Banks, Top Model 9 will be different than the show's earlier editions.

"Season 9 is coming up in the fall and it's a whole rebirth of Top Model that I can't talk about right now," Banks told Extra during the May 16 broadcast of the syndicated entertainment news program.

Top Model will air during the same Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT time period as its Spring 2007 eighth edition.  Beginning with the September 26 broadcast of its second episode, Top Model 9 will serve as a lead-in for Gossip Girl, a new scripted drama based on the best-selling young-adult book series of the same name, which will air at 9PM ET/PT.   Gossip Girl focuses on the "struggle for social supremacy" among teens attending an upscale Manhattan prep school.

As it has in recent seasons, The CW will also air an encore broadcast of each week's Top Model episode on Sundays at 9PM ET/PT.

In addition to Top Model 9, The CW announced Beauty and the Geek's fourth season will premiere Tuesday, September 18 with a special two-hour broadcast beginning at 8PM ET/PT.

The CW's decision to air Beauty and the Geek 4 as part of its Fall 2007 schedule will mark the first time that the reality series -- which as previously broadcast as summer or midseason programming -- will air during the fall television season.  The show's most recent third edition was broadcast in Top Model's time period during the hiatus between Top Model's Fall 2006 seventh edition and its Spring 2007 eighth edition.
