90 Day Fiance couple Ashley Martson and Jay Smith's marriage has been shown on the verge of divorce on Happily Ever After, so what has happened since the show wrapped filming -- are Ashley and Jay somehow still together or did they split? And what's the latest on the couple's saga?

Ashley and Jay's relationship has been quite a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows on 90 Day Fiance.

The couple first appeared Season 6 of 90 Day Fiance, which finished airing on TLC in January, and now their troubled romance is being featured on the fourth season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?.

Ashley, 32, and Jay, 21, had an immediate attraction when they met at a bar in Jamaica, where Ashley was visiting to attend a friend's wedding.

The couple parted ways at the end of Ashley's trip, but their whirlwind romance turned into something serious after Jay tracked her down on social media after she returned to the United States.

Ashley and Jay then got to know each other better, as they spoke frequently and remained in constant communication.

After six months, Ashley decided to leave her home in Mechanicsburg, PA and return to Jamaica to visit her love interest, whom she called "the light" in her life. It only took Jay eight days to pop the question!

Following their engagement, Jay received a K-1 visa, and 90 Day Fiance's sixth season showed Jay getting settled in Ashley's home and adjusting to life in Mechanicsburg.

However, the couple eventually decided to cancel their original plans to get married in Ashley's hometown after they allegedly received online threats from people who didn't approve of their interracial romance.

According to a wedding registry that was subsequently deleted, Jay and Ashley had originally planned to the knot on May 26, 2018 in Mechanicsburg.

Instead, the couple tied the knot in Harrisburg, PA on May 16, 2018, before traveling to Las Vegas to celebrate their already-established union with a more traditional ceremony in Sin City.

However, only two days after their Vegas wedding, Ashley and Jay's relationship quickly hit the skids when Ashley caught Jay messaging other women on Tinder.

90 Day Fiance's sixth season concluded with Ashley unsure of whether she wanted to continue the marriage or try to send her husband back to Jamaica.

As shown on Season 4 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Jay wanted legal U.S. residency status so he could get a job and take Ashley out on a proper date. He didn't think he could win her back unless he could be independent and contribute to their income.

Ashley, however, was reluctant to go ahead with filing for Jay's adjustment of status.

"If I filed for Jay's paperwork, I would be responsible for him for 10 years, so his whole entire twenties," Ashley explained in a confessional.

"And I don't want to be responsible for someone who is reckless and isn't trustworthy. I'm not willing to put my ass on the line for that until I know exactly what is going on. Until I feel comfortable doing it, I'm not in a rush."

So did Ashley ever file for Jay's adjustment of status? Are Ashley and Jay still together despite all the drama?

Given 90 Day Fiance's Season 6 filming and broadcast schedule, about six months elapsed between the season finale's filming and TLC's December 30 broadcast of the finale and early January broadcasts of the two-part reunion show. 

And just before Christmas, speculation that Ashley and Jay may have suddenly split began swirling online after Ashley made a cryptic Instagram Stories posting about not being able to "fake" things anymore.

90 Day Fiance viewers also noticed Ashley had deleted all of her photos of Jay from her Instagram account.

"You can only fake that things everything is ok for so long. Then you just hit that point... - ME!!!!!" the December 22 posting stated.

In addition, 90 Day Fiance viewers also recognized Ashley and Jay no longer appeared to be following each other on Instagram.

Then on December 30, Jay shared a GoFundMe campaign to help him "get a place to stay" -- seemingly confirming the couple's split.

Prior to the December 22 posting, Ashley and Jay's social media postings had regularly featured each other and shown they were still together and living in Mechanicsburg.

After a few more weeks of split rumors and gossip, Ashley filed for divorce in Pennsylvania on January 11. However, she withdrew the divorce paperwork only eleven days later, further confusing fans about the real status of their relationship.

At the time, some fans speculated a health crisis may have resulted in a reconciliation for the estranged couple.

Just two days after she filed for divorce, Ashley was hospitalized for kidney failure and lupus complications and remained in the hospital for almost a week. Jay still visited Ashley in the hospital even though they appeared to have already been separated since before Christmas.

Ashley alleged she and Jay never separated

But then in early February, Ashley went on a lengthy Instagram rant and claimed she and Jay had actually never separated and the 90 Day Fiance couple had staged and leaked a lot of the alleged problems and issues in their relationship.

Ashley, however, blamed TLC and 90 Day Fiance's producers for allegedly pressuring the couple to create an interesting storyline.

"Since I'm such a 'money-hungry scammer,' I'm breaking the NDA and surprise: Jay and I have never separated since the day we were married. Breaking the NDA means I won't be paid a dime for future shows. We were made to act as if our relationship was no longer active," Ashley wrote.

"We have been asked to be very deceptive about many things during our run with the show. We have been asked (and agreed for some time) to fake our relationship by not posting anything that makes us appear that we are together," she continued.

"We will be working with the necessary parties to find a solution to the constant deception and lies we are being asked to participate in as it is not conducive to the very real consequences that potentially exist for us. Immigration, K-1, etc: all real. Personally, I thought this show was just for entertainment & that's what we were told. Since the show has ended, I never confirmed the status of our relationship due to the contract."

Ashley's social-media confession appeared to have been provoked by an incident several days earlier in which Jay had accidentally broadcast live from an anonymous Instagram account that was supposedly leaking information about the couple without their permission.

Screenshots of Jay live on the account circulated online and shocked fans because they suggested Jay and Ashley were leaking personal details about themselves for media attention but blaming it on other people, such as Ashley's former friend Natalie.

Not only were fans outraged, but Ashley and Jay's 90 Day Fiance co-stars also slammed the couple for allegedly lying about their relationship and leaking their own stories for press headlines.

Ashley then fired back at her 90 Day Fiance co-stars in additional Instagram postings.

"As for fellow cast members popping off: YOU WORK FOR THE SAME SHOW, so -- acting like you're mortified about the falsity of things that happen is COMPLETELY hypocritical," she wrote.

"Most of you from Season 6 went on a social media TIRADE about the editing and fraud of the show, so don't suddenly act like you have no idea how this goes."

Ashley accused 90 Day Fiance of being fraudulent "from the top down" and claimed that's why viewers were able to pick out inconsistencies while Season 6 was airing.

"The show ruins relationships and people's overall image for less than the Pennsylvania minimum wage and I do not elect to continue the Three Ring Circus unless MAJOR changes are made. I hope this clears things up -- you are the believers," she wrote.

Ashley suddenly threatened to file for divorce from Jay again

However, in mid-April, Ashley suddenly made new social-media postings in which she threatened to file for divorce from Jay again.

"It's all fun and games until I get your disgusting cheating ass deported," she wrote on Instagram. "Have fun at the strip club with MY money and MY car you're driving around without a license!"

After Ashley's postings, she and Jay also unfollowed each other.

A few days later, Ashley made additional Instagram postings that appeared to confirm the couple had split and suggested she had caught Jay cheating on her.

"For all you thirsty girls in my soon to be ex husband's inbox, he's all yours. Please do me the favor and take his nasty ass off my hands," Ashley wrote.

Ashley also briefly updated the bio section of her Instagram account to read "Reality TV (star) on TLC... Happily Ever After... Mommy of Two... Single AF."

Ashley filed for divorce again and claimed Jay cheated

Ashley then subsequently filed for divorce a second time on April 23. 

The divorce filing alleges that Jay -- whose formal name is Conroy and is referred to as such in the filing -- committed adultery during the course of their 11-month marriage.

Rumors then also circulated on social media claiming Jay cheated on Ashley and got another girl pregnant.

Jay, however, denied getting a woman pregnant -- but he never denied cheating on Ashley in general.

And Ashley continued to insist Jay cheated on her in several Instagram postings, including one in which she shared the Instagram account of Jay's alleged mistress and called the woman a "homewrecker."

The alleged mistress then posted an Instagram Story in late April claiming Ashley was "lying" about Jay's infidelity and Jay was just a "good friend" of hers whom she had never hooked up with.

Ashley initially responded by putting the woman on blast and threatening to release all the text messages and photos she claimed proved otherwise if the woman didn't retract her denial immediately.

However, after thinking about it some more, Ashley -- who had warned the woman that the "clock is ticking" -- apparently cooled down and decided to retract her threat in order to set a good example for her children and not hurt and shame others.

Ashley insisted she was "done" with Jay and going to leave the cheating scandal in the past.

Jay is in the U.S. illegally and facing deportation

In the meantime, Jay appears to have an even more urgent legal matter he needs to address: his potential deportation!

In March, Ashley conducted an Instagram Live session with 90 Day Fiance Instagrammer Johnny Yates in which she claimed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official had come to her house and served Jay a notice to appear in court.

Yates then posted photos of arrest warrant and removal proceedings documents on Instagram that were dated February 4 and ordered Jay to appear in court in Philadelphia, PA on May 8, 2019.

However on May 9, Ashley said Jay was able to avoid having to appear for the May 8 court hearing.  Exactly how he avoided the appearance remains unclear, however Jay reportedly wasn't listed on the court's May 8 docket, according to court clerks, so it seems likely he was issued a continuance.

The immigration official's appearance occurred before April's new divorce and cheating drama and was likely sparked by a January 11 incident in which Jay was ticketed for speeding and driving Ashley's car without a driver's license in Mechanicsburg.

(In most U.S. states, an immigrant can not get a driver's license without a valid green card, which Jay has not received.)

While public records indicate Jay quickly pleaded guilty and settled the court case, the incident still generated a district court record that apparently alerted immigration officials that he is still in America.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security documents notified Jay that he may be deported under the Immigration and Nationality Act because he has overstayed his visa and remained in the United States longer than he was permitted.

According to the documents, Jay arrived in the United States on March 6, 2018 on a K-1 visa that only allowed him to stay in America until June 3, 2018 and he has been living in the U.S. without any legal authorization since then.

As a result, Jay is "removable" and the Department of Homeland Security has initiated removal proceedings against him.

Ashley claims Jay will be deported in August

Ashley did another pair of Instagram Live sessions with Yates on June 15 and 16 which she clarified she did briefly file Jay's adjustment of status paperwork but then withdrew it after he "screwed up again."

"I did file for his adjustment of status, and then two weeks later he screwed up again, so I withdrew it," she said.

According to Ashley, she and Jay now have a court hearing scheduled for August 7 in Philadelphia that she expects will result in Jay's deportation "unless he runs."

"He will be deported on August 7 unless he runs, which is what I'm assuming he's probably [planning]," Ashley said.

In addition, Ashley said there is an active warrant for Jay's arrest. 

"[Immigration and Customs Enforcement] has already been here to arrest him. They know where he works... I mean obviously if they come to my house at this point, I'm gonna tell them where he's at. So I'm not sure why he's still sticking around because we got a letter three weeks ago saying he has an active warrant for his arrest," Ashley explained.

"I didn't know this, but your local police department can not arrest somebody for being an illegal immigrant. ICE has to arrest him. They have to come from Philadelphia and arrest him."

She added, "So unless Jay would like assault me or something, then [in that case the local police] would contact immigration and say, 'Hey, we just charged Jay with assault, he's wanted for deportation,' and then ICE would take over."

Ashley insisted the drama in her life will be "over" after the court hearing in August.

"It's not 'if.' He 'is' going to get deported, and he knows he is. And he even called me. He went to the attorney and he said like, 'I'm f-cked.' Like he even offered money -- like, 'Can I pay you to withdraw the divorce?'" Ashley claimed.

Ashley said Jay offered her "his tattoo money that he makes illegally, because he's not allowed to work."

"He does tattoo and gets paid fully for it, but they're claiming that he's 'an apprentice,'" Ashley told Yates.

Jay moved out of Ashley's home in May

According to Ashley, Jay moved out of their shared Pennsylvania home while Ashley was visiting Texas a couple of months ago.

"We were not getting along -- he was sleeping with multiple women -- so I actually, we got the money for [filming] the [90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?] Tell-All. When we film the Tell-All, we get paid that day," Ashley told Yates in the June sessions on Instagram Live.

"So I actually offered to pay two months of his rent to get him out of my house because he wouldn't leave my house."

"Yeah, that's how he's there in his own apartment... He has family in Miami. His parents are here illegally, they live in Colorado. Like he has places to go, so I'm not sure why he's still here."

Ashley has admitted she made-up her TLC claims

"I even tried to blame TLC and say, 'Oh yeah, they dramatize shit,' because I was embarrassed to say that I went back with someone that was on Tinder three days after I got married. Because I was an idiot," Ashley admitted to Yates.

"[Jay] started f-ck-ng everything with a vagina" as soon as he arrived in America, Ashley alleged.

Ashley, however, put some of the responsibility and blame on herself for the failure of her marriage.

"I'm not even gonna stay here and play victim, I made mistakes in our relationship. I said that I could forgive and forget after the Tinder incident. You know, I was ashamed," Ashley said, referring to how Jay had been caught flirting with women on Tinder several days after their Las Vegas wedding.

Ashley confessed that because she loved Jay, she "ignored all the signs."

"And then I tried to forgive someone and I couldn't forgive and I was not nice. I was controlling, I didn't trust him, and it made for both of us to have miserable lives that ultimately ended up with him cheating on me multiple times again," Ashley insisted.

Ashley told Yates she hopes something better will come down the road.

"I loved him and people can say, 'Oh, you guys are staging it for the show,' whatever -- but I wasn't staging it for the show, I loved him, and I got hurt really bad, and it still hurts," Ashley explained.

Jay allegedly keeps sending Ashley mixed signals

Ashley told Yates that Jay has been sending her mixed messages and signals ever since he moved out. Some of the time, Jay is allegedly begging for Ashley back.

"I have text messages from him from three days ago telling me that he has a sex addiction problem and he'll go to counseling, [and that] he wants to go to couples counseling and he wants to work things out," Ashley revealed.

"You know why? Not because he loves me and he wants to work things out. [It's] because we get paid from TLC [for the season] in one lump sum when the last episode airs. So that's a lot of money at one shot. He wants the money."

Ashley added, "And he's been begging me since the day I filed for divorce to withdraw it and re-apply for his green card."

Since reconciling isn't working, Ashley said Jay is probably hoping to prove he has been mentally abused by Ashley so he'll be granted permission to stay in the United States despite the fact Ashley filed for divorce and never followed through with his adjustment of status.

Ashley accused Jay, for instance, of inviting her to stop by his apartment one Saturday to pick up a PlayStation gaming console he had previously borrowed from her son and inviting her into the apartment when he had a woman in his bedroom and her shoes and handbag were visible in the kitchen.

"He wants me to freak out so he can be like, 'Oh, she's crazy, she's mentally abused me.' Because you can stay here if you can prove that... So, I can't have a reaction or a response, or he'll be able to stay here. That's exactly what he wants... I'm just trying to keep my cool," Ashley told Yates.

Ashley said Jay is doing whatever it takes to stay in America.

"The only person that can save him is me, and that's why Jay keeps flip-flopping -- which is mind-f-cking me!," Ashley said.

"Because, one day it's like, 'Don't talk to me, I'm out partying with bitches and strippers and hoes and drinking Hennessy and smoking pot.' And then the next day, it's 'I love you, I'm sorry, I have a sex addiction, let's go to couples counseling and work through this.' Because I'm the only person that can save him from being deported."

Ashley and Jay suddenly did a wedding photo shoot

Ashley and Jay had recently sparked speculation they were back together when they reunited as models for a wedding photo shoot on May 8.

The photos -- featuring Ashley in a beautiful wedding dress and Jay in a white tuxedo -- were very sweet and intimate, and even showed the former couple embracing and kissing.

But Ashley confirmed on social media she and Jay had agreed to do the photo shoot together nine months earlier and neither individual wanted to back out of the contract just because they're no longer together.

Although the photo shoot took place on May 8, which was the same day Jay had been scheduled to appear in court in Philadelphia, Ashley insisted Jay didn't skip the court hearing to do the photo shoot.

Ashley noted on social media Jay's case "was handled out of court."
