VH1 has announced The Agency, a new reality series that will provide viewers with a stark look at the men and women who search for, mold, scold and comfort raw and young hopefuls in an effort to create the most marketable and beautiful people the world has ever seen.  The weekly half-hour series will premiere on Tuesday, February 20 at 10PM ET/PT.

Unlike most other reality television shows about modeling, VH1 says The Agency will not be about glamour.  Instead, the show will focus on the harsh realities of an often cut-throat industry in which the daily multi-million dollar competition for jobs and talent can result in both invigorating victories and demoralizing defeats.

The Agency will follow the booking agents the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, one of the largest model agency chains in the world.  In addition to offering viewers a rare look at client meetings, casting calls and the backstage scene at fashion shows where egos run amok, The Agency will also give viewers a look at the relationships between the agents and their talent.  In the words of one Wilhelmina agent: "If people ask me what I do, I give a pretty simple answer: we sell flesh."  From eating disorders to poaching by other agencies, The Agency's cameras will capture it all.

Along the way, the series will also examine the business side of operating one of the world's largest and most successful modeling agencies, as the agency -- originally founded by legendary model Wilhelmina Cooper in 1967 -- looks at the possibility of expanding outside the modeling industry.

The Agency is produced by Wilhelmina Productions, Left/Right, Inc., GRB and VH1. Sean Patterson and Corey Preston are executive producers for Wilhelmina; Banks Tarver And Ken Druckerman serve as executive producers for Left/Right, Inc. and Gary Benz is executive producer for GRB. Michael Hirschorn, Shelly Tatro, Danielle Gelfand are executive producers for VH1.
