Trading Spaces has always tested friendships and challenged neighbors to find out exactly how well they know each other, but there was one thing they could always count on -- they were in it together. Not anymore.

Everything will change this spring when TLC's Trading Spaces reveals its most ambitious renovation yet: Trading Spaces: Home Free, a new eight-episode series that pits neighbor against neighbor in a tournament-style competition with new twists and turns, top secret surprises and fabulous prizes. Home is where the "start" is as homeowners race to redesign their neighbors' homes in the hopes of winning the ultimate grand prize -- their mortgage paid off.

Sponsored by The Home Depot, the nine-hour series will premiere in a two- hour special on Sunday, March 7 from 7 PM to 9 PM, with subsequent airings weekly on Sundays at 8 PM ET/PT. Trading Spaces: Home Free will then culminate in a spectacular live reveal, as America finds out who wins their home free. Plus, one lucky viewer will also win his/her mortgage in a parallel online competition.

Each week homeowners will go head-to-head in fun and unexpected challenges that test their design mettle, perseverance and personal styles. Host Paige Davis will lead them as they work harder than they've ever worked before and push themselves (and the designers) to their creative limits. In exchange, they will have the chance to win high-end appliances, exotic fabrics, luxury furniture and core raw materials -- anything their hearts (and hearths) desire. Throughout their experience, they'll be kept on their toes by new Trading Spaces: Home Free twists and turns including changes in budget, shifting deadlines and design detours not to mention our rotating cast of designers and carpenters. But, for the first time, they'll also have the ability to call on friends, neighbors and surprise visitors to aid in their efforts.

Through it all, they'll need to show the audience at home their true colors, as viewers decide their fates each week by voting on who moves to the next phase of competition. In overnight confessionals, they will reveal their innermost feelings as they navigate a constantly shifting emotional maze of deadlines, budgets, excitement, fun and neighborly rivalry.

With unprecedented stakes, unforeseeable twists and turns, unimaginable pressure and unscripted drama, Trading Spaces: Home Free promises to keep both participants and viewers guessing right up until the end. Are you ready for the challenge?

Trading Spaces: Home Free is produced for TLC by Banyan Productions. Kathy Davidov is executive producer for TLC. Tom Farrell is executive producer and Andy Meyer is supervising producer for Banyan. Trading Spaces: Home Free is sponsored by The Home Depot, HomeMadeSimple.com, General Motors and Hyundai/Kia.
