MTV has announced it will premiere Teen Mom 2, a second Teen Mom edition which will follow the complicated lives of four additional young, unmarried mothers as they struggle with the challenges of motherhood, on Tuesday, January 11 at 10PM ET/PT and revealed the new show's cast.
Reports that MTV had decided to borrow a page from Bravo's playbook and begin giving the popular but controversial hit reality series The Real Housewives treatment had surfaced earlier this fall, however the network had declined to confirm the new spinoff.
Similar to Teen Mom's original edition, Teen Mom 2 will star four girls who were featured on the second season of MTV's 16 and Pregnant reality series: Leah Messer, an 18-year-old from Clay, VA; Jenelle Evans, a 19-year-old Oak Island, NC; Kailyn Lowry, an 18-year-old from Nazareth, PA; and Chelsea Houska, a 19-year-old from Sioux Falls, SD.
Teen Mom's second season ended in October and the show will end the year as one of MTV's top-rated series, trailing only Jersey Shore. It will not be impacted by the new edition and will still return for a third season with stars Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, and Amber Portwood next year.
Below are the cast's MTV-released biographical descriptions, as well as the network's trailer for the new show:
