Simon Cowell: Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey will win 'American Idol'

By Christopher Rocchio, 03/25/2009

Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson have reiterated that they think a male contestant will take home American Idol's eighth-season title -- and this time, they also named names.

The two Idol judges singled out current Top 11 finalists Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert as their favorites to win Idol's eighth season during a Tuesday night appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

"It's going to be a guy this year.  Danny, Adam..." said Cowell during the appearance.

"It's going to be a guy for sure," added Jackson.  "Danny, Adam..."

In January, Cowell stated that he was "100%" sure a guy would win Idol's eighth season and Jackson claimed that the "boys have the edge."

However the male judges haven't been the only ones that felt the guys were clearly stronger, as Kara DioGuardi told reporters during a January conference call that "the males were the strongest," while Paula Abdul flat-out stated in February that "a guy is going to win."

Cowell and Jackson also said they feel current Lil Rounds will end up being the last female finalist in Idol's eighth season during their The Tonight Show appearance.
