The tenth-season American Idol champion graduated from Garner Magnet High School in Raleigh, NC last week, Us Weekly reported.

"Ive enjoyed these last 4 years.. wouldnt trade any of them for the world," McCreery tweeted at the time of his commencement.

The 18-year-old country singer reportedly received his diploma the day after the CMT Music Awards in Nashville where he won the "USA Breakthrough Video of the Year" category.

"It's been a fun 24 hours for sure!" McCreery added via Twitter.

Despite how busy McCreery may be juggling both his schoolwork and music career, the Idol winner will be furthering his education by attending North Carolina State University in the fall, according to Us.

"I don't know of anybody coming in so well known initially," the university's director of admissions Thomas Griffin reportedly told Entertainment Weekly. "Most 18-year-olds don't have the kind of exposure that someone like Mr. McCreery has."

Although McCreery will be taking classes at North Carolina State University, which is 15 minutes from his parent's house, he apparently doesn't want to live on campus.

"At 18 years old, I have a lot of learning to do and I don't know if I'm ready to make the move from home yet. Give me a couple more years and I'll be more mature and I'll know more about the business," McCreery told The Boot, Us reported.

"Maybe then I'll make the move to Nashville. I think for right now the best spot for me is home."
