Sci Fi Channel announces it's reviving 'Scare Tactics' reality series

By Christopher Rocchio, 03/20/2008

Sci Fi Channel has announced it's bringing back Scare Tactics, a hidden-camera reality series that petrifies the pants off of unsuspecting victims.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member and current 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan has been tapped to host Scare Tactics' third installment, which is scheduled to premiere later this year.

The show will follow a similar format to its first two editions, with friends and family members of an unsuspecting victim helping to set-up up an elaborately staged scary situation -- complete with movie-style special effects and makeup.

Each Scare Tactics segment ends with the hoax being revealed to the victim, and while home viewers may find the frightening funny, those being scared-stiff almost assuredly do not.

Scare Tactics 22-episode first premiered in April 2003 and was hosted by former Beverly Hills 90210 actress Shannen Doherty.  Actor and recent The Celebrity Apprentice candidate Stephen Baldwin then hosted the show's 22-episode second season. Scare Tactics' last original episode aired in December 2004.

Scare Tactics is produced by Hallock & Healey Entertainment, with the show's creators Scott Hallock and Kevin Healey serving as executive producers.
