Ruben Studdard and wife Surata Zuri McCants going "separate ways"

Ruben Studdard will apparently soon be a divorced Velvet Teddy Bear.

The second-season American Idol champion has filed for divorce from Surata Zuri McCants, his wife of three years, E! News reported Wednesday.

Studdard reportedly cited "irreconcilable differences" on his divorce filing.

"Ruben and Zuri have gone their separate ways," the Idol winner's publicist told E! News.

Studdard and McCants wed in June 2008 in his hometown of Birmingham, AL.

The couple reportedly met in Atlanta in October 2006 when Studdard was doing an autograph signing at a local Wal-Mart store.
